Our Story and Artistic Vision
Founded in New York City by violinist Ji in Yang and composer Hyun Kyung Lee, the Global Peace and Music Foundation and Ensemble (GPAMFE) is dedicated to addressing contemporary social issues by collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists and cultural organizations worldwide. Guided by the belief that music transcends borders, the ensemble brings diverse communities together to inspire empathy, connection, and peace.
The ensemble has cultivated meaningful audience connections through performances at premier concert halls and academic institutions across New York and Korea, including the Seoul Arts Center, the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY), Elebash Recital Hall at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and Brooklyn College. In particular, GPAMFE has served as a cultural bridge between New York and Seoul through landmark international events, notably the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Commemorative Concert.
Uniting versatile musicians across a wide spectrum of traditions—from classical masterworks to jazz, tango, and contemporary compositions—the ensemble actively shapes the living repertoire. Through commissioned works and world premieres, it champions living composers and connects diverse artists with audiences across cultural and geographic boundaries.
